One of SECCRA's major objectives is to provide a regional waste management approach to municipal solid waste issues in southern Chester County. Waste reduction is part of this approach.

The three segments of the familiar recycling triangle signify the three R's: reduce, reuse and recycle. Almost everyone receives a lot of junk mail. In fact, the average person receives approximately 41 pounds of unsolicited junk mail annually. Of that 41 pounds, 44% is thrown away unopened and only half of that amount (22%) is properly recycled. Reducing the amount of junk mail generated has far-reaching benefits to the community, and contributes to effective solid waste management.

SECCRA will continue to accept junk mail as part of its continuing recycling drop-off center program.

You can reduce the amount of junk mail you receive through the following mailing list operators:

Also check out Catalog Choice, who helps you eliminate unwanted catalogs you receive in the mail as well as Opt-Out Prescreen, which is a centralized service to accept and process requests from consumers to "Opt-In" or “Opt-Out” of offers of credit or insurance.
