During the summer months, Americans have an opportunity to display the American flag for Memorial Day and 4th of July as a display of their pride in our country. SECCRA is proud to offer as a service to everyone in our service area the ability to drop off your old or worn out American flag for free at SECCRA’s main office and it will be taken to our local VFW Post to be disposed of properly.
The flag codes states that, “The Flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning” . If a flag has any large rips or tears, or is stained or is beyond repair, it should be destroyed in an appropriate ceremony. If you do not wish to perform the ceremony yourself, or are unable, please bring your flag to SECCRA and we will make sure that your flag receives a proper disposal.
We hope that by providing this service, we can honor one of our country’s prized symbols as well as making flag disposal easier for our community.
